LA GARDIENNE DE LA 9e PORTE: Celtic mythology.
CAILLEACH is a Goidelic word that literally means 'veiled.' As such it comes to denote a woman who wore a veil and, by extension, eventually is used to refer to a nun, an old woman or a hag. Inasmuch, it is sometimes translated into English as 'witch' in certain contexts.
